When it comes to calibration
equipment, there are two things that come into our mind, and they are that it
will either be an electronic device or a simple mechanical system. Here in this
article I will be discussing the instrument
calibration equipment used for calibrating speedometers. A speedometer is a very common device, and it
is one thing that we come across in our everyday routine. In this case also, calibration
services are designed either mechanically or electronically. Their cost will
vary depending on the instrumentation used in manufacturing and overall
expenditure in bringing out the final product.
If you look at the
construction of a speedometer, it is very simple in arrangement and
functioning. Its main mechanical part is a rotating shaft which is coupled to a
permanent magnet. A cable is fixed to the shaft in order to give the input
signal. Main mechanism is that the shaft rotates with a speed about the car or
vehicle. And the deflection in the meter is observed by the permanent magnet.
There is Industrial Scales Calibration equipment which alters the deflection of
the meter, and its accuracy is checked in that manner. There is automatic
speedometer calibrator available these days. This method is also used in
carrying out Custom Weighing Scales of various instruments. Its working principle is even much simpler.
It produces an input signal and which brings deflection in the needle which in
turn manages to develop torque and check for accuracy in deflection of the
needle.
